SCHOOL MEMBERSHIPS

Membership Opportunities

Who is eligible to become a member of WICSA?

The Wisconsin Independent Charter School Advocates is a membership organization made up exclusively of Independent Charter Schools. Both “2r” and “2x” Charter Schools along with Non-Instrumentality Charter Schools, all of which have Boards separate from elected District School Boards, are eligible to become members.

School Membership Dues

WICSA membership dues continue to be some of the lowest in the country. Dues reflect .1% of total per pupil funding.  Dues are capped at $10,000.

Why WICSA?

In publicly funded education, there are multiple stakeholder groups trying to influence the legislative and administrative processes. While some of them may have aligned interests, none of them have the specific, and singular, responsibility of advocating for the interests of Independent Charter Schools.

With unique funding, authorizing and administrative paradigms, Independent Charter Schools need a representative voice that is immersed in our operations and advocating for only our interests. WICSA will also serves as a formal network of support for independent charter school leaders.

Benefits of WICSA Memberships

Wisconsin Independent Charter School Advocates (WICSA) membership offers several strategic benefits. Here are some key reasons to join:

Representation

WICSA represents independent charter schools across Wisconsin by advocating for supportive legislation, equitable funding, and policies that empower high-performing, non-district public schools.

Policy Influence

Membership gives you access to policy updates, and opportunities to engage directly with policymakers. WICSA relies heavily on its membership to provide feedback on how proposed legislation could positively or negatively impact member schools.

Professional Networking

WICSA connects members with a statewide network of charter school leaders, educators, and advocates. This provides opportunities for collaboration, mentorship, and the sharing of best practices.

Professional Development & Resources

Members will gain access to: • Workshops and webinars on leadership, governance, and compliance • Legal and operational guidance tailored to independent charter schools • School improvement resources and data tools.
